I live in NY and I tried to e-file my income taxes. I was rejected! Seems the Social Security Admin does not have my birth date correct. I have to run to the office (an hour and a half away) and fix this problem. I was told to file by paper instead. I just read on the State website that if you don't e-file your State taxes (NY) they (State) could charge you a $25 penalty.
