Default People Getting Into IRA Funds

Reuters published an article yesterday that talked about people drawing from their IRA: Insight: Recovery at risk as Americans raid savings | Reuters.

Some people are reckless with their money, but I feel like much of this is out of desperation. I hope these politicians stop playing games and take some concrete steps to improve the economy.

Yes, this stopped being about recklessness back in 2008. Now this is happening because people can't pay their bills or buy groceries. We are struggling, but so far I have left what little bit of retirement we have left alone.

People work so hard to build their retirement accounts. Having to raid those funds while you're still of able mind and body is unacceptable in a country such as ours. Being responsible with your money and being forced to find food money are two different things.

Some people really don't have a choice, but it does underscore how important it is to save money when you can. Having to take out money from your IRA account years in advance is a desperate situation, but at least they have the money to withdraw. Those who don't are probably putting their groceries and other necessities on their credit card.
