Default IRA or Not?

Do you have an IRA or plan to get one? My husband and I are considering starting one once we pay off our debts, although we haven't decided which type we want.

I have a SEP. Sort of similar, it is a simplified employee pension plan. It allows me to take what ever extra money I have from my business and put it into a retirement plan.

I have an IRA although I haven't contributed to it for quite awhile. Some of it is in a CD with a fixed rate. The rest has a variable rate. Unfortunately, neither are paying very much at all which I guess is the case with most cash investments right now.

I started an IRA when I was in my twenties. I'm really glad I did because I haven't been able to add to it much in recent years. It really does pay to start one as soon as you can.
