Do you still have any money or investments in the stock market? We still have my husband's 401k from work in there, but that is it. We lost so much money that we just took the rest of it out.

I still have it in there. If it take it out now, it is truly a loss. If I leave it in, it has a chance to rebound. Given enough time, history has shown that stocks will go back up.

I don't have a penny in the stock market. My money is just too hard-earned to be speculative. I'd worry so much that it wouldn't be worth it. For those already in the market, it's probably better to stay the course. But I definitely wouldn't start investing now.

I don't have any money in the stock market either. I am never familiar to the field and I don't invest my money on something I have no idea about.

I think it's usually recommended to reduce the percentage of money you have in the stock market as you get closer to retirement. Otherwise, you run the risk of needing to take it out before you gain back what you might have lost when the market was down.

You are correct, the closer you get the more you want to switch to cash/CD's and other sources of income that is considered safe.

Although it does depend on your living style and how much you currently have.

We have some still in Pepsi bu that is about it right now. We pulled out a few of the others that were just not worth it (more like impulse do's) a couple of years back.

It just feels too risky these days to do anything substantial with the stock market. The U.S. stock market is affected by the world market which is becoming more and more volatile. In times like these, you really need to know what you're doing before you begin to invest.

I've been investing money in the stock market since I was 20 years old. It remains the best investment thing I've ever done. I did, however, go to cash before the crash where most people lost half of their investment. It took me a year to start stepping back in. I follow the big charts, which is what saved me from tanking. I first started by using my refund savings to buy stock.

With the instability in Europe and particularly Greece right now, the stock market seems to be a horrible place to have money right now. Once one or both of those bricks are removed the whole thing will come tumbling down, and it will happen very quickly.
