Default Closed accounts

We just closed three accounts (two checking and a savings) at one bank because they decided to change their free checking accounts into accounts with ridiculous fees. The teller said that a LOT of people are doing this.

Good decision, I am glad you did that. There is no point of having several bank accounts if it's just mean that you have to spend more money on bank fees.

I have seen a lot of banks start to charge fees for dumb things! Good choice to change banks! I hope you found a good bank that has fewer fees. It's like banks don't care anymore - charge fees all the time.

What kind of fees are they charging? The only thing I've seen so far is they took away my rewards program with my card. I wasn't too happy about it, but I won't leave because of that.

Yeah, I notice that they start charging fees for everything. I worry they make it one of their main sources of income because they don't have so many options of making profit today.

Banks are starting to get crazy with their fees. I'm thinking of looking into some credit unions. My wife still has her account open at one.

We signed up for completely free checking. They added a $10/mo service charge, and on top of that, a $5/mo debit card fee. I think they were adding a per-transaction fee, also.

I did the same thing. One checking account had gone from being free to costing five dollars a month. When they notified me that they were going to raise the rate even more, I cancelled it right away.
