Default Get rid of landline?

Has anyone gotten rid of their landline? The only problem I can see is relying on your cell phone in bad weather. Nevertheless, it's getting harder to justify having a landline and a cell phone when you also have the internet for communication.

We've thought about it a few times but still have our land line. We did go to just the minimum of what we needed to save cost wise. It's actually cheaper to call long distance on our cell.

The only advantage I can see to a landline is if you use it for your internet. Unfortunately, that's my situation. So, I won't be getting rid of my landline just yet. I know of many people who have, however, and they're happy to save the money. Unless you live in an area prone to a lot of storms, I doubt it makes much of a difference.

I have not had one in the longest time, at least eight years. We use a system that lets us make cheap long distance calls since we have so many family and friends that are not local to us but we still love to chat it up.

I would LOVE to get rid of the landline. You hit it perfect though, terrible reception. We don't have terrible reception only for storms - we have it all the time. I live in the country and we need more towers.

I would like to get rid of ours too. We did switch to digital so it's not all that expensive anymore. We don't have the best reception in this area either, I use Verizon.

There is nothing wrong with getting rid of the land line, but we still keep it. We don't want to depend on the cellphones alone. Moreover, some families and relatives prefer to call us on the landline.

We still have the connections for land lines here in the house but we have never used them, its always been a VOIP phone. Even if that were to go down the adults here have a cell in case there is an emergency, I really see no point in having anything else.

We don't use the land line anymore, but still keep the connection, just in case. All adults in the house (who are my wife and me) have a cellphone and we can also use the internet for communication.

I know a lot of people have gotten rid of their land lines and saved a lot in the process. Unfortunately we can't do it because we get poor cell phone reception where we live. If we ever move I'd seriously consider it though.
