Default Disconnect notice

I have never had a disconnect notice before now. I just got one in the mail from the power company and I am a little scared. I have 5 more days to make the payment. It will take 7 to get the money to them. Will they really turn the electricity off on the day the disconnect notice says?

I think every company is different. They will usually do it with in that week. If you get disconnected they will charge you to reconnect you. Call them, since you will have the payment only 2 days later then the notice I bet they will work with you.

Our electric company will work with us if we are going to be late in paying. We have always been able to pay but sometimes we are a bit late. Just let them know what is going on and when you can have the money to them and they more than likely will be able to extend you a few days. But, once you make that commitment, keep it because they will not hesitate to cut you off on the date they say they will.

It just depends on where you live. Here if you have a cut off notice and you don't pay it before then they will shut it off that day and then you get to pay a $75 reconnect fee plus what you owe. It's worth a phone call though.

Call them, explain the situation going on, ask if you can make a partial or full payment over the phone. Most will allow for this, right now I think I have only one bill that I still pay with a check.

I also receive a disconnection notice from the telephone company that my unpaid subscription has been overdue for two months. We paid it a month later in full and they connected the telephone wires back.
