Default Coin Collecting?

Is this something that is still worth while doing? Do you need to do it over a long period of time? I'm wondering because I recently was given some older coins, some silver and Morgan dollars and was wondering if they would be worth much or if I should just hold on to them longer?

Some people still collect them. Most of the people I know doing it now are collecting older coins from antique shops in case of economic collapse. Not something I have wasted much time on though. You can't eat coins, and in the event of collapse people will not be concerned with accumulating money...they will want food, toilet paper, water etc.

If you're into coin collecting, you can check out the blue book called The Handbook of United States Coins. There should be one for each year. I've seen ads for places that specialize in coins sort of like they do when buying gold from individuals.
