My wife has asked for a sewing maching this year for Christmas. She has never used one before and specifically told me not to spend a lot on it. Does anyone know of a brand or features I should look for?

I asked about this on another forum and a couple of people recommended Brother. If you get one without the bells and whistles, it should be fairly cheap at Walmart. And one that doesn't have a lot of features is probably best for beginners. I'm thinking of getting one myself.
