Default Copying Copywrite Expired Movies

I love classic movies. Because so many of them have had the copywrite to expire, I would love to be able to download them and burn them to DVDs to add to my DVD collection. Does anyone know how to convert these to a form that is usable in a DVD player?

I love old movies, especially the black and white crime dramas from the 40's and 50's, I have recently to my delight found many of them in full on YouTube. You can save them to your playlist and I believe that there is a free program that will convert the movies from the YouTube format to whatever you want to change it to.
