Default Books and Reading

I am addicted to buying (and reading) books. There, I've said it! I am always looking for great deals on books.

One thing I do to get good deals on books is pay for the Barnes & Noble membership. It costs $30 and I end up saving a lot more than that when I shop online, sometimes all at once.

Does anybody else have tips on book buying?

I love to read and I love books (real books not "digital" ones), but I purchase most of mine from library sales. You can get a LOT of books there for very little money.

BWB always has amazing deals on books and its what we have started using since we found a few other sites that were kind of gimpy when it comes to proper delivery time (waiting months) or customer service. I prefer to read a book rather than an ebook anyday.

I still consider ebooks "real" books. You are still reading after all, there is nothing bad about them. I do understand the feeling of holding a physical book though, and that is what I personally prefer. I just see a lot of hostility toward ebooks with some people I talk to and I don't get it.

I've bought a few used books off of Amazon. I've tried some second hand book stores around here, but have little luck. I actually had better luck at a second hand store in a flea market. I've picked up some rather old gardening books that had a ton of great info in it that some of the new books pass over.

Sounds great. Do you really save more than what you can save on Amazon? When it comes to shopping books online, I always go for Amazon. You can always find great deals there.

I have a few on my shelf that I really need to get to, the last one I bought back in Oct. and it is still sitting on my desk in the spot I left it when it came in the mail. Books are something I hope never go out of style, I just wish I had more time to read!

You are right, an ebook is still a book. Just because it is not hard printed doesn't mean it is less quality than a "real" book. Moreover, you can save a lot of money by purchasing an ebook instead of the printed version.

I prefer ink and paper books to ebooks, too, but I love reading no matter the mode of delivery. You really can get some fantastic deals on books at library sales. And you're helping the library at the same time, so it's a win-win.

Yard sales! I buy a ton of books at yard sales in the summer. I read a ton too and I hate paying full price for books. I don't keep books, I read them and then donate them or swap them. You can also look for people to swap books with.
